Bake Off fans 'obsessed' with Kathy Burke biscuit that's 'better than Mona Lisa'

The Great British Bake off fans were left obsessed with one contestant's show stopped this evening. Viewers took to social media to applaud a bake by television presenter Sophie Morgan. Tonight's (19 April) show featured amateur celebrity bakers with the likes of singer Ellie Golding and actress Tracy-Ann Oberman.

The famous faces who appeared on the programme had to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, all for a worthy cause. For the final showstopper challenge they had to make edible portraits of their own celebrity heroes. While some contestants had a harder time than others, there was one attempt that shone through.

Oberman made an impressive portrait of actor and comedian Kathy Burke that fans were quick to brand "an actual work of art" and "one of the best things" they'd ever seen on the show. Some people even joked that the bake even deserved artistic recognition.

"A Kathy Burke biscuit... I'm sorry but this is better than the Mona Lisa. #gbbo," one person said. "Kathy Burke in biscuit form should win the Turner Prize #gbbo," another added.

A third viewer joked of the portrait: "Hang it in the louvre." One more enthusiastic fan suggested: "That Kathy Burke bake is one of the best things I've ever seen on this show #GBBO ".

Other fans were quick to urge the actor herself to take a peek at the attempt, saying: "Brilliant bake @KathyBurke hope you are watching #GBBO " and "I hope someone told @KathyBurke to watch tonight’s #GBBO #SU2C I’m sure she’d love it!"

Elsewhere on the show, fans were in stitches after comedian Mawaan Rizwan apparently made an attempt to roll out custard. Fans of the show were completely gobsmacked as one viewer wrote on social media: "Is Mawaan trying to roll out his custard?" Another fan joked after witnessing the hilarious scene: "I hope Mawaan tries to inflate an egg."
