Travis Kelce performed Taylor Swift’s signature “heart hands” gesture in honour of his girlfriend after scoring a touchdown in the NFL play-offs.

Swift has frequently performed the signal during her Eras tour and the star’s fans were quick to pick up on Kelce’s tribute during the Kansas City Chiefs’ 27-24 win at the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

After his touchdown in the second quarter, the tight end, 34, formed a heart with his hands in the direction of the singer, who was watching the game alongside Kelce’s family and her friend, the model Cara Delevingne, from a suite at Highmark Stadium in New York.

“Travis just did the heart hands after his touchdown … I’m crying,” wrote one fan on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Another said: “This is my favourite rom com.” On Instagram, one user posted an image of the celebration and described the couple as “Miss Americana and the Football Prince”.

Swift, 34, was seen cheering during Kelce’s big moment.

But her celebrations were muted compared to those displayed by the athlete’s older brother and Philadelphia Eagles star Jason, who was so excited by his sibling’s success that he defied the freezing temperatures and removed his shirt.

Kelce typically celebrates touchdowns with a point-and-arrow celebration and has become one of the most recognisable NFL players in America since he began dating Swift last summer.

The singer has been a regular attendee at his games this season.

Kelce’s form has dipped this year compared to previous campaigns, but he was nominated in the Athlete of the Year category – alongside sports stars such as LeBron James, Coco Gauff and Lionel Messi – of the People’s Choice awards.

Given the honours are decided by public vote, Swift’s followers could swing the result in her boyfriend’s favour.

However, when asked about the nomination on his podcast, Kelce described it as “f------ nonsense”.

The Chiefs’ victory puts them only one win away from the Super Bowl. They travel to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday for the AFC Championship game.
