UK-Germany defence agreement: vital to combat Russian aggression
The UK Defence Secretary John Healey and German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius have today signed a UK-Germany defence pact.
Known as the Trinity House Agreement, it is designed to strengthen national security while providing a boost to both countries’ economies, supporting investment and creating jobs.
The deal is part of a wider plan to forge closer ties between the UK and major European allies, both through NATO and on bilateral terms. It is thought that Healey's next step will be to reboot the UK's Lancaster House Treaty with France.
Naomi Smith, Chief Executive at Best for Britain said,
“The Trinity House Agreement is a much needed and welcome step towards deeper defence and security cooperation with our friends in Germany.
“With ongoing Russian aggression raging on our continent, and the possibility of an isolationist Trump Presidency, it has never been more important for the UK to forge closer relationships with our European allies.”
