Mum uses Aldi plastic bags to make perfect VE Day flags & she’s hailed a genius
A CRAFTY mum has turned old plastic bags into flags to commemorate VE Day by cutting out the Union Jacks - and she’s been hailed as a ‘genius’.
With the nation getting ready for the May Day bank holiday on Friday, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of VE Day, Brits are busy making decorations to hang up.
While bunting and flags are popular choices, one mum came up with a brilliant way to create quick and easy decorations - with a perfect design.
She realised Aldi plastic bags have the Union Jack on them, so she rifled through her plastic bag stash and retrieved all of the supermarket’s bags.
She cut them up ready to be turned into flags, or bunting, sharing her brilliant idea on Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.
The mum said: “Kids wanted flags for VE Day Friday!!
“NO flags... NO problem! Aldi bag and a pair of scissors.... Sorted.”
Her tip has racked up more than 9,000 likes, as people hailed the mum as a 'genius'.
Commenting online, one person said: “That's brilliant, what a fantastic piece of upcycling.”
