'It's taking people's freedom' Denise Welch furious as schools ban Valentine's cards

Its taking peoples freedom Denise Welch furious as schools ban Valentines cards
DENISE WELCH launched into a furious rant on Monday's Loose Women as the panel discussed schools banning Valentine's Day cards.

Loose Women had a special Valentine’s Day themed episode on Monday afternoon as panelists Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan, Denise Welch, and Sophie Morgan discussed the romantic holiday and whether or not schools should ban the giving of Valentine’s Day cards. Denise and Coleen shared their opinions on the matter but struggled to agree.

“Some schools have started to ban the giving and receiving of cards,” Ruth began, before being interrupted by Denise letting out a loud sigh.

“Well, they say and I quote ‘It can guard against the emotional trauma of rejection,'" Ruth explained.

Coleen insisted she could understand why schools would consider banning Valentine’s cards, noting it could lead to bullying.

“I think kids can be really cruel,” she explained.

However, Coleen shook her head as Denise fumed: “We’re falling into a habit of banning everything.

“I think there’s far more practical ways of looking after kids mental health and listening to them than banning Valentine’s cards.

“The whole idea of a Valentine’s card used to be not knowing who it was from. You got your roses or violets,” she said.

Denise confessed she understood the argument the giving of Valentine’s cards in schools could lead to bullying, but placed the blame on social media.

The debate seemed to leave Loose Women viewers divided as many took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Some fans agreed with Denise the giving of Valentine’s Day cards in school shouldn’t be banned.

“I was always the kid who never got a card at school, years later nothing much has changed. However, do not ban valentines cards from school. I remember just how excited my friends were every year finding one in their tray at school #LooseWomen," @Lisa95388628 said.

“I absolutely love Denise. She’s always spot on with everything she says never trying to people please and always giving an honest opinion! #LooseWomen," @xLaurenBrooks wrote.

“When I was at school, back in the olden days lol, we had dedicated postboxes in school and they would be delivered during one of the lessons. I never got one, but of all the things that's scarred me in life… that's not one of them hahaha #LooseWomen," @chatsandcats commented.

However, others disagreed with Denise and insisted Valentine’s cards shouldn’t be handed out in school.

“Imagine if your child comes home from school and is the only one in the class who didn't get a card, what are you meant to say suck it up? I don't think they should be able to give them out in school #Loosewomen," @sazzle0312 said.

“Children shouldn't even be thinking about love at their age Denise. #LooseWomen,” @whoknows_bob added.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
