VERNON Kay fans 'can't believe' his age as he celebrates milestone birthday.

The radio star, who was announced as the new mid-morning host on BBC Radio 2 last year, turned 50 on Sunday (April 28).

Wife Tess Daly, 55, took to Instagram and shared a sweet tribute to her husband on his birthday.

She shared a sweet clip which included unseen snaps of the showbiz couple in their younger days.

Tess captioned the post: "50 TODAY @vernonkay. So happy to have spent half of those birthdays with you."

Vernon's fans flocked to the comment sections as they were surprised at his age.

One wrote: "How do you two never age? Happy birthday!"

A second added: "You guys have aged about 5 years in the last 25 years."

A third commented: "Happy birthday vernon not looking at day over 30!"

Before his milestone birthday, a source claimed that Vernon was having "mixed feelings" about it.

An insider told OK!: “Vernon had mixed feelings about turning 50, to him it just feels so old and was in a bit of panic before it all happened.

"He has always liked to see himself as quite young and trendy - it only seemed like a few years ago he was being described as fresh young talent.

"But he also feels so grateful to have got to 50 and to be married to Tess and have two beautiful and healthy daughters."

Vernon met Tess in 2001 when he was hosting T4.

They married in 2003 at St Mary’s Church in Horwich and live in Buckinghamshire in a mansion that is complete with a gym and a massive garden.

When they're not at home, the family are often seen living it up abroad.

In recent years they have enjoyed lavish breaks to the Maldives as well as Lake Como and St Tropez.
