Popular fizzy drink recalled over 'safety fears' as customers warned of 'risk'

A popular brand of drink has recalled a number of products over potential safety fears. Vimto Original 500ml bottles have been incorrectly labelled as having 'no added sugar.'

This could be a risk to anyone who monitors their sugar intake, such as diabetics. And as a result, owners Nichols plc are recalling the bottles.

A spokesperson for the Food Standards Agency said: "Nichols plc is recalling Vimto Original 500ml due to bottles being labelled with a ‘No Added Sugar’ statement. The product within the bottles contains added sugar.

"This makes the product a potential risk to consumers who need to manage their sugar intake." They added: "Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.

"These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the products. Please see the attached notice."
