Vimto has been urgently recalled from supermarkets after the popular soft drink was labelled with a false 'No Added Sugar' statement.

Nichols plc, which owns Vimto, has recalled the drinks out of concern they could pose a potential risk to consumers who need to control their sugar intake, such as diabetics.

The affected bottles are all part of the same 'Love The Taste' promotion and according to a statement from Nichols Plc the mistake is due to a 'packaging error, which has caused a limited number of bottles to be labelled with the statement 'No Added Sugar', despite the product within the bottles containing added sugar.'

Not all bottles from the 'Love The Taste' promotion are impacted though. The affected batch codes are the following: OCT 24 4050, OCT 24 4051, OCT 24 4052, NOV 24 4072, NOV 24 4073 and NOV 24 4074. These codes can be found on the side of the bottle.

A spokesperson for the Food Standards Agency told The Sun: 'Nichols plc is recalling Vimto Original 500ml due to bottles being labelled with a 'No Added Sugar' statement. The product within the bottles contains added sugar.

'This makes the product a potential risk to consumers who need to manage their sugar intake.'

If customers are worried about a purchase of Vimto, they are encouraged to contact Nichols plc on 01925 222 222 or productenquiries@vimto.co.uk.
