Oxlade-Chamberlain says Liverpool ace labelled 'the strongest' is actually 'never in the gym'
Speaking on a video posted to Liverpool’s official Twitter page, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has claimed that Virgil van Dijk actually never spends any time in the gym.
Van Dijk is one of the most physically imposing players in the Premier League, but Oxlade-Chamberlain claims that he very rarely actually works out.
The midfielder was being interviewed by some of the Reds’ academy kids, and they wanted to know who spends the most time in the gym.
The youngsters imagined that van Dijk would be one of the biggest gym rats at the club, but the Ox claims that the opposite is true about the Dutchman.
What’s been said about van Dijk?Oxlade-Chamberlain responded when asked who spends the most time in the gym at Kirkby.
“Sadio Mane or Mo Salah, or this man (pointing towards Thiago),” Chamberlain said.
“Virgil van Dijk?” one of the youngsters queried.
“No, no, Virgil is never in the gym,” Oxlade-Chamberlain concluded.
Hard to believeIt’s almost impossible to believe that van Dijk doesn’t spend that much time in the gym.
Just look at the size of the man, he’s a man-mountain at the back and you’d think that he’d spent hundreds of hours working on his physique.
However, despite the fact he’s previously been described by Pontus Jansson as ‘the strongest defender in the world’, van Dijk apparently doesn’t put much work in.
To be fair, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard something like this, Adama Traore, who is one of the strongest players in England, also claims that he doesn’t lift weights, so perhaps some players are just gifted with this natural strength.
