Wayne Rooneys message to Coleen as he misses Im A Celeb
Coleen Rooney finished as runner-up on I'm A Celebrity on Sunday night, but her husband Wayne did not make the trip to Australia to greet her on the famous bridge

Wayne Rooney chose not to welcome his wife Coleen on the famous I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here bridge after she claimed second place in this year's reality TV competition. Instead, he sent a heartfelt video message before the finale.

Coleen emerged as the runner-up of 2024's I'm A Celeb series on Sunday (December 8), with McFly artist Danny Jones bagging the top spot through the public vote. Despite just missing out on the title of the new 'Queen of the Jungle', Coleen expressed her contentment: "Knowing that I have made it to the final makes me proud. I'm a proud mum, I'm a proud wife, I'm a proud daughter."

During ITV's show finale, the 38-year-old was moved to tears upon being reunited with two of her sons, Klay and Cass, aged 11 and 6, respectively. Although their children had flown to Brisbane, Australia, two weeks prior to surprise their mum in the jungle, Wayne did not join them.

The ex-England captain, now managing Championship side Plymouth Argyle, stayed home during the course of the show, as he attempted to spearhead his team away from relegation danger. Since Coleen joined the jungle line-up, Argyle have faced two significant losses against Norwich City and Bristol City, as well as a draw with Watford.

They currently sit in 22nd place in the table, just teetering above the relegation zone, since Rooney took over as head coach back in May. While his team were off duty this Saturday after their match against Oxford United got postponed due to Storm Darragh, the silver lining meant he got a free weekend to enjoy the final episodes of I'm A Celeb from the comfort of his sofa, before gearing up for Tuesday's pivotal home game against Swansea City, reports the Mirror.

The Manchester United legend may have been absent from the pitch, but he certainly delivered off it with a touching video message on the show, alongside his boys Kai, 15, and Kit, 8, rooting for his wife: "Hi Col, we just want to wish you all the best in the final tonight, we've all been so proud of you," the former England captain said. "You've shown everyone who you really are and your character.

"No matter what you'll be our queen, no matter what happens we're all really excited to see you. All the best, we love you."

Wayne might not have been there, but Friday's episode did feature their other children, Klay and Cass, giving Coleen a surprise that moved her to tears in the jungle.

They later cheered their mum on during Sunday's live finale. As the series' top-billed name, Coleen Nolan, reportedly bagged a whopping £1.5million for her part on the hit ITV reality series.

Coleen and Wayne tied the knot in 2008, after first meeting when Coleen was only 12 years old. Their love story started when they were both 16, and she has been a constant support for Wayne as he rose to fame as a young football sensation with his outstanding performances for Everton, United and England.
