Why Plymouth Argyle boss Wayne Rooney skipped I'm A Celebrity ...
Plymouth Argyle head coach Wayne Rooney chose not to greet his wife Coleen on the iconic I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here bridge after her second-place finish on the reality TV show - but he sent her a heartfelt video message beforehand.
Coleen finished as runner-up on the 2024 series of I'm A Celeb on Sunday, with McFly singer Danny Jones winning the public vote. Ahead of the final, which saw her narrowly miss out on being named the new Queen of the jungle, the mum-of-four said: "Knowing that I have made it to the final makes me proud. I'm a proud mum, I'm a proud wife, I'm a proud daughter."
The 38-year-old burst into tears upon reuniting with two of her boys – Klay, 11, and Cass, 6 – on the ITV show’s last episode. But while their sons took a flight to Brisbane, Australia, two weeks earlier to surprise Coleen in the jungle, Manchester United icon Wayne decided not to make the trip.

Rooney, who is currently experiencing a tough spell at the helm for Argyle, has been back at home during the show's latest run in the hope of turning around his side's fortunes as they battle to get out of the relegation zone. Since Coleen set foot in the jungle, the side have suffered big defeats against Norwich City and Bristol City, along with a draw against Watford.
They find themselves 22nd in the table and just inside the relegation zone following Rooney's appointment back in May. His team didn't play on Saturday as their game against Oxford United was called off due to Storm Darragh, meaning he ended up with a free weekend to catch the final I'm A Celeb episodes on TV at least ahead of Tuesday's crucial visit from Swansea City.
And while the former England striker could not be there himself, he featured on the show by sending Coleen a touching video message alongside their other sons Kai, 15, and Kit, 8, urging viewers to vote for her: "Hi Col, we just want to wish you all the best in the final tonight, we've all been so proud of you," the 39-year-old said. "You've shown everyone who you really are and your character. No matter what you'll be our queen, no matter what happens we're all really excited to see you. All the best, we love you."
In Wayne's absence, sons Klay and Cass appeared on last Friday's episode, giving Coleen a surprise in the middle of the jungle, which left her in tears. They were reunited with their mother in Sunday’s finale.
Coleen, who topped headlines for being this series' marquee addition with a reported £ 1.5million paycheck, is anticipated to stay in Australia a bit longer to film the outgoing 'Coming Out' special before jetting back to reunite with the rest of her family.
The pair tied the knot in 2008, having first crossed paths when Coleen was only 12 years old. Their romance began at 16, with Coleen supporting Wayne as he rose to football stardom with his impressive performances for Everton, Manchester United and England.
