Unique Wycombe Wanderers flags to appear at Wembley Stadium
Several flags have been specially made for Wycombe Wanderers’ EFL Trophy final against Peterborough United this weekend.

The match, which takes place on April 7, will see around 15,000 Chairboys fans attend Wembley Stadium for the third time in five years, and their fourth in 10 seasons.

And to commemorate the showpiece under the famous arch, a handful of flags have been created for the occasion in what is Wanderers’ first-ever appearance in the final of the competition.

One of which is of Wycombe right-back Jack Grimmer.

Since joining from Coventry City five years ago, he has gone on to play 169 times for the club, scoring four times.

Chris Spratt, who is part of the 1887 Wycombe group, that helped organise the funding and the securing of the flags, said: “Matches at Wembley are always special occasions, regardless of the competition and regardless of the number of visits a team has made.

“When our place in the final was confirmed, it was an ambition of ours to do something specifically for the match.

“Whilst it soon became apparent that some of our early ideas would need to be changed, we were able to purchase flags that had a nod to our past as well as our present.

“Our club has such a rich history, particularly at Wembley, and this was something we wanted to celebrate.

“We also wanted to recognise one of the true stalwarts from the current team - Jack Grimmer - a player who epitomises so much of what is good about the club.”

The match will kick-off at 4.30pm on April 7.
