Wendy's is giving out $1 Dave's Singles for March Madness

Wendy’s fans can score a slam dunk deal.

The fast food spot is handing out savings on the Wendy’s app for basketball fans during March Madness. Customers can grab a $1 Dave’s Single or $2 Dave’s Double anytime, now through April 10, by checking the offers tab in the app.

A Dave's Single is bigger than their Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers. It's a quarter-pound burger patty with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mayo and onions on a bun. Dave's Double includes two patties.

Wendy’s rewards members can only use the discounted cheeseburger deals one time each but there's no purchase necessary and the burger joint will have several other discounts and freebies during the college basketball tournament.

The March Madness deal was announced shortly after the internet was ablaze with news that Wendy’s was planning to roll out “dynamic pricing” in 2025.

In an earnings call in February, Wendy’s CEO Kirk Tanner explained that the chain will spend $20 million to add digital menu boards to restaurants. He added that with the digitized menus, “AI-enabled menu changes and suggestive selling” Wendy’s could implement price changes quickly.

Although many interpreted this announcement to mean that their new pricing model will operate similarly to how ride-sharing apps like Uber or Lyft set their prices higher during increased demand (a practice referred to as surge pricing), a representative for Wendy’s clarified to PEOPLE that customers may notice lower prices during slower parts of the day — not increases during peak hours.

"[We] would not raise prices when our customers are visiting us most," they said in a statement. "Any features we may test in the future would be designed to benefit our customers and restaurant crew members. Digital menuboards could allow us to change the menu offerings at different times of day and offer discounts and value offers to our customers more easily, particularly in the slower times of day."

Regardless, Burger King gave out free burgers for a limited time in a not-so-subtle clap-back at Wendy’s “dynamic pricing.”

“We don’t believe in charging guests more when they’re hungry,” Burger King wrote in a press release announcing the Whopper freebie. “Surge pricing? Well, that’s new. Good thing the only thing surging at BK is our flame!”
