This guide will break down everything you need to know about when and how many The Wheel of Time novels have been released.
When were The Wheel of Time novels released?First published in 1990, Robert Jordan (the pen name for James Oliver Rigney, Jr.) passed away in 2007 and the series was completed by Brandon Sanderson. Amazon has teamed with Sony Pictures to create a TV series along the lines of Game of Thrones.
With over a dozen titles in the series, and thousands of pages, Wheel of Time is known for its super detailed setting, the Westlands, and how the storyline depicts time simultaneously in the distant past and the distant future of Earth.
Characters in the series also possess special powers similar to magic called channelling. Jordan’s series has been compared to JRR Tolkien’s works of high fantasy.
A book in the series has been released almost every year since 1990, up until the most recent one which was published early 2013.
How many novels of The Wheel of Time are there? The tale spans not just over 14 novels, but also a prequel story and two companion books.
While Amazon Prime may not be casting all 2,782 named characters that appear in the books, some of its biggest names will be making the transition from page to screen.
The show follows Rosamund Pike’s Moiraine as she and five young men and women embark on tumultuous adventures. One of the party’s members is “prophesied to be the Dragon reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.”
