America-based auction house ‘Sotheby’s’ is auctioning the world’s oldest whiskey ever. The name of this 81 year old whiskey is ‘The Macallan the Reach’. Auction house Sotheby’s has put ‘The Macallan the Reach’ up for auction on its official website. Sotheby’s has also shared some photos of this whiskey on the website.

Only one bottle of whiskey was made in 1940‘The Macallan the Reach’ was distilled in 1940 and only one bottle of this whiskey has been produced. This whiskey is a dark auburn single malt whiskey with 41.6 percent alcohol. It has a sweet and smoky finish. The winning bidder will receive a small bronze sculpture along with a bottle of ‘The Macallan the Reach’.
According to Sotheby’s listing, the bottle of ‘The Macallan the Reach’ has been auctioned at number 3/288. The bottle is displayed on three bronze sculptures handcrafted by the artist, and in a wooden cabinet with red leather. Saskia Robinson created the bronze sculpture. Its cabinet is also made from wood from an elm tree found in The Macallan Estate in 40.
