A YELLOW wind warning has been put in place for parts of Scotland by the Met Office...

Starting at 3pm on Tuesday, December 17, the warning will last until 8am on Wednesday, December 18.

The warning covers both Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as the south of Scotland and a section of the west coast.

(Image: Met Office) The Met Office said to expect the following:

  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry are likely
  • Some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities will be affected by spray and/or large waves
  • Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely

The forecaster said peak gusts of 40-50mph were likely fairly widely inland with perhaps 50-60mph in “more exposed places, including along some coasts”.
