A video has gone viral this week that shows a tragic Smith machine accident.

The popular piece of gym equipment is often used for weight training and consist of a barbell that is fixed between two steels rails.

It is most commonly used to perform “Smith machine squats” which is where a person squats with weights on their shoulders.

The gym CCTV footage may be traumatic for some viewers and will not be shown in this article, but it allegedly shows a Mexican woman lifting 180kg.

However, the weights are clearly too heavy for her and after trying to squat, she collapses and the barbell falls on top of her.

At the end of the clip, two people rush over to go and help her, but it is unclear what happened next.

Reports are flooding the internet that the woman allegedly died in the accident but this has not been confirmed.
