Millers writer Paul Davis gives his verdict on League One events at AESSEAL New York Stadium this afternoon.

Millers (4-3-3)

Cameron Dawson: 7

A touch hesitant on crosses but pulled off a superb second-half save to keep his side in the contest.

Joe Rafferty: 8

Spent all of the match doing the right things and doing them well. A presence in both halves of the pitch.

Cameron Humphreys: 6

Had a difficult time early on when he was out of sorts but then got himself together. A player of his culture is probably more suited to the Championship than League One.

Jamie McCart: 6

His lack of a challenge of Ollie Palmer led to the 16th-second goal but, otherwise, he was fairly solid. As is becoming customary, he asked questions of the opposition in their own box.

Reece James: 5

Given a tough time by one of the division's best wide men, Ryan Barnett.

Hakeem Odoffin: 7

Got himself into good positions in the opposition box. He and Christ Tiehi are an imposing pair, although what you gain in physicality and mobility you lose a little in creativity.

Christ Tiehi: 7

Did a good ‘bits and pieces’ job, picking up possession and getting the Millers moving again. Defensively strong.

Joe Powell: 6

Made things happen at times going forward but sometimes landed himself in trouble at the back.

Mallik Wilks: 5

One or two flashes of danger but not the consistent threat he'd been a week earlier at Peterborough.

Sam Nombe: 5

Never really got going and wasted an excellent second-half chance.

Cohen Bramall: 7

His best display of the season. His pace made him a real threat in a more attacking role on the left flank, although sometimes the cross took too long to come in or didn't come in at all.

Jack Holmes (for James 56): 6

Nearly very good. Things almost happened for him but didn't quite happen. Always willing to back himself and knows how to get past opponents. Good to see a raw but talented newcomer starting to get more minutes off the bench.

Jordan Hugill (for Wilks 78): NA

Manager Steve Evans changed the formation rather than give him a start in the absence of Jonson Clarke-Harris. Did little to change his manager's mind when he came on.

Joe Hungbo (for Odoffin 70): NA

Bright. The lad has something. Looked to beat his man and get a cross in.

Not used: Dillon Phillips, Liam Kelly, Alex MacDonald, Shaun McWilliams.

Wrexham (3-5-2): Arthur Okonkwo 7; Eoghan O'Connell 7, Dan Scarr 8, Tom O'Connor 7; Ryan Barnett 9, Andy Cannon 6 (Ollie Rathbone 62, 6), George Dobson 6, Elliot Lee 5, James McLean 7; Ollie Palmer 6 (Steven Fletcher 70), Paul Mullin 7. Subs not used: Callum Burton, Lewis Brunt, Luke Bolton, Mo Faal, Seb Revan.

Goals: Mullin 1 (Wrexham).

Referee: Ben Atkinson (London).

Attendance: 11,235 (2,356).

Opposition view

“We want to test ourselves against the very best and this was always going to be a test. But we have come through with flying colours.

“Steve Evans' teams are always hard to play against. They are very organised and committed. You have to be good to beat one of his sides.

“It was an outstanding cross from Barney (Ryan Barnett) and a brilliant finish from Mulls (Paul Mullin) who did what he’s done time and time again for us.

“We all know he’s a great player with an ability to score all types of goals and I’m really pleased for him.”

- Wrexham boss Phil Parkinsin

Possession: Millers 66 per cent, Wrexham 34

Goal attempts: Millers 17, Wrexham 13

On target: Millers 6, Wrexham 7

Touches in opposition box: Millers 33, Wrexham 15

Corners: Millers 8, Wrexham 4

Fouls: Millers 11, Wrexham 16

Final word Lost. Probably did enough to win. Wrexham defended well in the second half.
