WWE 2K22 reveals cover Superstar and announces release date

WWE has released new details on its upcoming video game WWE 2K22, its first 2K game since 2019.

The Superstar gracing the cover this time will be Rey Mysterio, who is celebrating his 20th anniversary as a WWE Superstar.

Along with being the cover Superstar, players will also be able to relieve Rey's incredible career through WWE 2K22's Showcase Mode, which will feature key matches and moments from his run in WWE, accompanied by documentary-style intros giving context to each match.

Speaking about the honour, Rey said: "Representing the culture of lucha libre as the cover Superstar for WWE 2K22 is a moment of great pride for me.

"I’m looking forward to sharing the stories behind the big moments of my career with a dedicated community of players and connecting with WWE fans in a whole new way as they play through my 2K Showcase."

Alfie Brody, Vice President of Global Marketing Strategy at 2K, added: "Throughout his career, Rey Mysterio has staged multiple comebacks to prove his resiliency time and time again, and through it all, has cemented his legacy as a living legend of sports entertainment.

"In that same spirit of resiliency, WWE 2K22 strikes back with a slew of upgrades and community-requested features to give players complete control over the WWE experience."

WWE 2K22 will also feature two new modes: MyGM and MyFACTION.

MyGM sees players become a WWE General Manager, where they can draft their own roster of WWE Superstars and Legends and develop rivalries and matches.

In MyFACTION mode, players can collect and manage their own faction with weekly events and regular updates.

WWE 2K22 hits selves worldwide on March 11, 2022, and is available for pre-order now.
