Yorkshire puddings top BBC Food’s most searched for Christmas recipe

BBC Food has revealed that Yorkshire puddings topped its most searched for recipes last Christmas.

According to stats, the trimming became the most searched recipe on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Yorkshire puds are normally associated as a side with roast beef and not the traditional Turkey roast but for many, they are a great accompaniment to any gravy dinner.

In 2020, the recipe topped the most searched for terms on BBC Food, and also coming in the top five recipes for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were how to cook the perfect turkey crown and eggnog and roast potatoes.

1. Yorkshire pudding
2. Perfect roast turkey
3. Red cabbage
4. Eggnog
5. Perfect roast potatoes

In the run-up to Christmas between December 1 and Christmas Eve, BBC Food found sweet treats being searched for the most.

Baking trays, scales and spatulas are being used frequently before the big day, with festive recipes such as gingerbread men, shortbread and mince pies proving to be the most popular.

Here's the top five search terms from December 1 to 23 in 2020:

It seems many were wondering what to do with their turkey leftovers last Christmas too.

After Boxing Day, turkey curry became the most popular searched recipe with leftover turkey and ham pie following closely in second place.

Whilst many were once again craving something sweet after so much savoury food, as recipes for pancakes and bread and butter pudding became sought-after.

From December 26 to 31 2020, the top five search terms were:

2. Leftover turkey and ham pie
3. Pancakes
4. American pancakes
5. Bread and butter pudding
