Are Sam Thompson And Zara McDermott Engaged?

This week, Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson has sparked rumours of an impending wedding proposal after he shared a snap of him and his girlfriend, former Love Island star and BBC Three presenter Zara McDermott, in the Maldives together.

Noting the romantic destination famed for celebrity proposals, fans have jumped to the conclusion that Sam could be using the trip as a way of popping the question. One commented 'I thought it was an engagement announcement and I'm annoyed it's not now' while another posted 'Are you putting a ring on it or not?!'

Well, neither of them have directly confirmed a proposal is happening, but Zara did drop a subtle hint in the comments of the photo. One fan responded by saying 'propose to her then!' and Zara replied with an elusive clock emoji. Is she hinting that a proposal is on its way soon, or that she's waiting as eagerly for Sam to ask as fans?

The pair announced that they were officially dating back in May 2019 after meeting through Instagram. The former Love Islander sent Sam a direct message... and the rest is history. Now, the two are known for creating playful comedy sketch-style Reels together on Instagram.

Unfortunately, the pair briefly broke up last year when Zara admitted to being unfaithful (allegedly with The X Factor's Brahim Fouradi) in an argument that aired on an episode of Made in Chelsea.

They have since rekindled the romance and now appear stronger than ever. The reality stars have even made jokes about the infidelity together publicly, with Sam creating a TikTok spoof of the MIC scene where Zara begged for his forgiveness.

Speaking to the Mail Online, Thompson said 'I hated that time. I didn’t enjoy it at all. But what human would? The way I handle things is by smiling and laughing about it and just trying to make it seem lighter than it already is. That’s always the way I’ve been.’

Back in September, Thompson hinted while speaking to the Mail Online that he would be ready to settle down and start a life with Zara soon. After two years of dating, he said he wanted kids with Zara 'quite soon' as he didn't want to be a ‘really old dad’.

He continued, saying 'I’ve hit a stage where I’m doing my house up at the moment, I want to make it into a really nice adult home, I’m nearly 30 and I’m with the girl of my dreams.’

However, the 29-year-old did say he reckons he needs to ‘grow up a little bit first’. Judging by his handling of their relationship problems, and how smitten the pair still are, he might be more mature than he realises.

Between the ambiguous clock emoji, the romantic trips away and the desire to start a family, maybe we'll see Zoe McDermott and Sam Thompson tie the knot pretty soon?
