This is what Airbnb users say they want most in 2022
Airbnb users say the one thing they want most in 2022 is to pay for their rentals in cryptocurrency, according to results from a Twitter poll by Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky revealed Wednesday.
Chesky’s poll showed the majority of those who responded want to pay for Airbnb stays with Bitcoin (BTC) or other cryptocurrencies. Other popular requests included clearer pricing displays, a loyalty program, updated cleaning fees and enhancements to Airbnb’s customer service program.
Airbnb currently accepts Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, Google Pay and Apple Pay as payment methods.
Even before Chesky tweeted out his poll, he did an interview with The Verge in November where he was asked about his thoughts about cryptocurrencies and the metaverse.
“We are definitely looking into it. Absolutely,” Chesky told The Verge. “Like the revolution in travel, there is clearly a revolution happening in crypto. Airbnb and crypto both have interesting relationships with trust.”
Chesky also noted that Brian Armstrong, who used to work for Airbnb, is the CEO of Coinbase — one of the largest crypto exchanges in the U.S.
If Airbnb accepts the popular suggestion, it will join other companies such as AMC and Tesla, in accepting cryptocurrencies as payment, according to Metro UK.
