Ryanair will launch twice-weekly flights to the destination in July.

It brings the budget carrier’s Bournemouth route network for the summer to 15.

Fares lead in from £19.99pp one-way for travel until the end of October.

Bournemouth airport managing director Steve Gill said he was pleased to see the resumption of flights to Malta.

"It’s further evidence of our strengthening route network and means we can offer even more choice this summer."

Ryanair marketing director Dara Brady added: "The opening of this route from Bournemouth reinforces our commitment to increasing connectivity, and travel options for our UK customers, with 15 choices of destinations to and from Bournemouth this summer."
