Staff at East Croydon station shared passengers' messages from loved ones over the loudspeaker.

Commuters on Valentine's Day in 1997 were surprised when messages from their loved ones were read out over the loudspeaker.

Resident station announcers at East Croydon railway station in south London came up with the idea.

BBC reporter Sarah Morris went to meet surprised commuters whose messages were being read out on the station platform.
