Budget ‘all about spend’ may put inflation predictions ‘at risk’

Former New South Wales Liberal leader Kerry Chikarovski says if Tuesday’s federal Budget is “all about spend” it may put inflation predictions “at risk”. Treasurer Jim Chalmers will hand down the federal Budget on Tuesday, May 14. “I think what the economists, in particular, will be looking for at this budget is to see where the savings are coming from because if it’s all about spend, which is kind of how you expect pre-election budgets to be without those savings, then we might find that those predictions in relation to inflation are at risk,” Ms Chikarovski told Sky News Australia. “I think the economists … will be looking for where are the savings coming from.”
