It’s an all-orange front row in Budapest, after Lando Norris took pole for the second time this season. With Oscar Piastri riding shotgun in P2, McLaren will be hoping to keep the Red Bull of Max Verstappen and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz at bay in the run to Turn 1.

Silverstone winner Lewis Hamilton starts fifth – 12 places up on Mercedes team mate George Russell, who missed the Q1 cut amid changing track conditions – with the second Ferrari of Charles Leclerc alongside, followed by Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.

The two RB cars complete the top 10, Daniel Ricciardo having edged out team mate Yuki Tsunoda after the Japanese driver crashed in spectacular fashion towards the end of Q3 at the Hungaroring.

The other big name to suffer a qualifying accident was the seemingly luckless Sergio Perez, who caused significant damage to his Red Bull after heavy contact with the barriers in Q1. The Mexican starts 16th, so look out for him and the similarly out-of-position Russell making some early moves.

And at the very back we have the two Alpines. Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly qualified 19th and 20th respectively, but the latter will start from the pit lane following set-up and power unit element changes ahead of the race.
