How much does Mariah Carey make every year from All I Want For Christmas Is You?
The Queen of Christmas is coming out of hibernation and gracing us with her presence yet again, with the release of her festive special sequel, Mariah’s Christmas: The Magic Continues, premiering on Apple TV+ today (December 3).
The special comes just in time for the release of her new Yuletide single, which fans are hoping will be as catchy as All I Want for Christmas Is You.
You know the song. We all know the song. And last year, the song hit Number One in the UK charts for the first time, 16 years after its first release.
With the song still breaking records over a decade on, it’s fair to assume Mariah is still reaping in the royalties from the song.
But how much does MC make every year?
How much does Mariah Carey make every Christmas?Mariah might not want a lot for Christmas – but, thanks to her royalties, she gets it.
All I Want for Christmas Is You was first released in 1994, and the star is still doing well from her 90s festive hit.
Celebrity Net Worth calculated that she gets somewhere between £450,000 and £750,000 each December from the song alone – this doesn’t include the money she makes from her other tunes and alternative sources of income.
It is thought that in the UK alone she makes about £380,000 annually from the tune.
The 52-year-old singer also receives thousands of dollars every year from streaming services such as Spotify, earning a small amount every time that the hit is played through their platform.
According to Business Insider, by 2018, All I Want for Christmas Is You had grossed Mariah a staggering $60 million (around £45 million) since its first release.
That means, according to Celebrity Net Worth’s calculations, Mariah would have raked in anywhere between £46.5 million to £47.5 million by the end of 2021 from that tune alone.
Mariah, who is mum to twins Moroccan and Monroe, has an estimated net worth of around £234 million.
Mariah will be hoping for another Christmas classic with the release of her new single – Fall In Love At Christmas – featuring Khalid and gospel singer Kirk Franklin, set to be released on November 5.
Still, what would Christmas be without some disappointment – despite bagging her millions, All I Want for Christmas Is You was also voted the most overrated Christmas song, tying The Pogues’ Fairytale of New York.
With tens of millions in the bank from it, we can’t imagine that will ruin Mariah’s Christmas too much, though.
