Nearly 20 years later, a new Mario Kart DS shortcut has been found
Mario Kart DS released nearly 20 years ago, and there’s no doubt the vast majority of players have long since moved on from the title. Of course, there will always be some stragglers, especially when it comes to the speedrunning community. Turns out their efforts haven’t been in vain, as they’ve just discovered a new way to shave some time off their laps.
The shortcut has been discovered on the Waluigi Pinball, and it was first seen through the use of tool-assisted runs. Thanks to speedrunner iMathll, the theoretical has been proven true, as they managed to pull off the crazy stunt during an actual race, and you can see how it all comes together in the clip above.
This find is going to prove incredibly useful for Mario Kart DS speedrunners, as it’s one that can be used on multiple tracks. The same technique can shave off some serious time on Luigi’s Mansion and Delfino Square as well, and it seems like that might just be the start. In other words, the Mario Kart DS speedrunning scene is about to see a TON of records broken in the next few weeks!
