Martin Lewis says be ready as airline to offer super cheap flights
The major airline's next seat release will be on Thursday (March 21)

Finance expert Martin Lewis has told holidaymakers to keep an eye on flights this week. His Money Saving Expert (MSE) team are urging people to be "ready to pounce", with easyJet set to offer super cheap seats later this week.

The ITV Martin Lewis Money Show host said, in his latest MSE newsletter, that the next batch of affordable seats will be released tomorrow (Thursday, March 21). Demand drives easyJet prices, but the team at MSE has identified a time when it’s almost ‘always low’.

“There's one point when demand is almost always low... the very second seats are released," the experts say. The next lot of seats will be released on Easyjet's website early on Thursday, March 21, this will likely be from around 9am, although this hasn't been confirmed.

The flight seats will be great for people looking to travel between Sunday, December 1 and Sunday, March 2 2025. Around 18 million seats will become available, with about 10 million of them being from/to the UK. The team at MSE recommends that the best way to keep track is to wake up early and check Easyjet’s website every ten minutes, Bristol Live reports.

Explaining the offer in more detail, Martin Lewis shared a video on X to his followers today (March 19). In it, he said: "This is an urgent heads up if you fly Easyjet because there is an opportunity to get far, far cheaper prices than normal."

He added: "It says 9am, but normally we've started to see them launch from around 6am or even earlier... The safest thing to do would be to get online at around 6am and start checking at that point." This is just one of EasyJet's seat releases this year, so it's possible there may be another for 2025 later on in 2024.

An Easyjet spokesperson told MoneySavingExpert: "We encourage customers to book early to get the best fares. Fares are demand-driven so they start low and rise as more seats on the aircraft are booked."

Martin and his team added: "In the past, these tickets have shot up in price as demand increases, so being online early is key to getting a bargain." Lots of people found success on the equivalent release day last year.

Martin Lewis described the tip as a “very successful technique” for a number of people. He also said: “Though of course, if later on a particular flight is very substantially under-booked, you could get seats even cheaper then – that's just far more difficult to predict.”

Easyjet has its very own Low Fare Finder which can help you find the best and most wallet-friendly flight deals for 2024. Flights start for as little as £10.99 per person.
