Quinn Emanuel claims to her that US lawyers can work from anywhere forever forever and always List23 Latest US amp World News

Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan said on Monday that all of its American lawyers, including first-year associates, could not work from anywhere in the United States indefinitely.

According to firm chair and founder John Quinn, 875-lawyer litigation firm will attract lawyers in places with no office, giving it an advantage in the United States legal industry's talent wars.

With this policy, we allow to recruit some outstanding new lawyers, according to Quinn. Rising demand for legal work in the last year must compete aggressively for top lawyers, resulting in huge increases in the summer and several rounds of associate bonuses.

Quinn Emanuel's decision is unprecedented for a large firm, according to Kristin Stark, a senior law firm who represents Fairfax Associates.

"There's simply not enough people in the market," Stark stated, adding, "They need to become much more creative in figuring out those people."

In addition to support recruiting, the policy could result in fewer expenses in the long term. Quinn emphasized that "it's inevitable" that the firm will remodel and downsize its current office space. "we're going to look at how much space we utilize," he said.

Quinn Emanuel has 13 US offices, and new associates will be associated with one of those offices in the new policy, but they won't have to practice there in person.

Quinn has stated that it'sn't adopting a virtual model, because it wants employees to come into its offices by adding areas that are common areas and open spaces.

Quinn Emanuel will have to make "an extra effort" and offer better mentoring and training opportunities for remote attorneys, he added.

Goodwin Procter's American lawyers and staff that work in the office will be "entirely voluntary" until mid-March, citing virus concerns, has been trying to bring employees back into office as a result of the epidemic.

Quinn Emanuel hardly mentioned the epidemic in its announcement on Monday, calling its new policy a chance to hire "the most litigators to join our firm, wherever their desks are." Quinn referred to COVID-19 as a temporary policy change.

Kristin Stark of Fairfax Associates muggled this story in a response to Kristin Stark's comment.
